Delicious No-Cook Berry Trifle Recipe for Quick Summer Desserts

At Bryan Casey Construction, we build dream spaces — but we’re also big believers in traditions that bring people together. Every year, right around the Fourth of July, you’ll find this dessert sitting on someone's newly finished kitchen island, porch table, or back patio: our famous no-bake berry trifle.

It started years ago when we were wrapping up a client project just before the holiday weekend. Someone (okay, it was Bryan’s mom) dropped this trifle off at the job site, and we’ve been hooked ever since. It’s fresh, easy, crowd-pleasing, and looks just as good as it tastes — kind of like a great remodel.

Now it’s a team favorite. No matter how packed our summer schedule gets, someone always makes the trifle. And now, we’re sharing it with you.

Serves: 10-12 | Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 20 minutes + chill time

Ingredients

  • 1 store-bought pound cake (or angel food cake), cubed

  • 1 pint strawberries, sliced

  • 1 pint blueberries

  • 1 pint raspberries (optional, or swap with more blueberries)

  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding (3.4 oz), prepared per box directions

  • 1 tub whipped topping (Cool Whip, or homemade whipped cream)

  • Optional: Fresh mint for garnish

Assembly Instructions

  1. Lay the foundation  (you know we love a good base): Start with a layer of cubed cake at the bottom of a large trifle dish or glass bowl.

  2. Add the creamy layer: Spoon in half the prepared vanilla pudding, followed by a layer of whipped topping.

  3. Build the color story: Add a generous layer of mixed berries — we like strawberries around the edge for that classic red-white-blue vibe.

  4. Repeat the structure: Add another layer of cake, pudding, and whipped topping.

  5. Top it off with a berry finale: Arrange the remaining berries on top in a fun pattern — stars, stripes, or just artfully scattered.

  6. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 1–2 hours (or overnight) before serving.

Builder’s Tips

  • Use a clear trifle bowl to show off the layers — it's like a glass remodel.

  • Want extra flavor? Add a splash of vanilla or almond extract to the pudding mix.

  • No time for pudding? You can skip it and just use whipped topping — we won’t judge.

Celebrate in Style

Serve this up after a BBQ, under a cabana, or around a firepit with friends. And if your outdoor space isn’t quite party-ready yet — you know who to call!

Happy Fourth from all of us at Bryan Casey Construction!
