We jumped right into this design with a couple of primary objectives. First, we wanted to relocate the existing laundry, and second we wanted to pull in color from the kitchen to carry an updated aesthetic through the home.

 

Reconfiguring the existing laundry room was a must, we found that the small laundry room located between the garage and kitchen created a pinch point for this bustling family. By moving the laundry into the master bathroom we were able to free up space to create a mudroom.

 

Our mudroom design seamlessly incorporates multiple functions into its design. On the left our team created a built-in drop zone, with cubbies above a boot bench and trim detailing to the ceiling. A slender center pantry separates the drop zone from the new beverage center and includes a custom pull-out perfect for organizing mops and brooms out of eyesight, but easy to access when needed. Reeded detailing and a slim shaker profile tie the cabinet’s designs, while the tones in the porcelain tile tie together the blues and neutrals throughout the home with a timeless, although updated, geometric design.

 

In the master bathroom we removed the existing shower enclosure, and in doing so were able to clean up and remove the staggering wall heights and soffits on the shower wall. A corner tub, which ate up a lot of room, but wasn’t utilized was removed and gave us ample space to envision an airy retreat.

The original shower location was the perfect place to house the new laundry, utilizing existing appliances we added functional storage in a pop of color and a layout flexible for updated appliances down the road.

To relocate the shower we built a pony wall at the end of the existing vanity. We utilized this half wall for electricity on the vanity’s side, and bench support on the shower’s side. A zero entry pan and glass shower walls not only give it a seamless feel, but provide universal design access for whatever life might throw their way.

The homeowners really enjoyed their existing vanity layout and storage, so we had our team refinish these cabinets in Alabaster, and in updating the countertops, tile, and fixtures we have created a timeless design they can enjoy for years to come.
