Countryside
Charm
We were approached to do an addition to the end of the home off the primary suite. The request was a large walk in primary closet as well as a new spacious laundry room. The homeowners were also looking to do some updates to the main part of the home as well while we were there. Initially we were adding hardwoods to what was there and refinishing as well as removing french doors in the living room and adding built-ins and updating the fireplace mantle.
After collaborating with the homeowners our team came up with a full on first floor remodel plan to really integrate the entire home together. We added an addition on to the end of the home where the primary suite was. We shrunk the size of the primary suite to gain more space in the new addition as the original primary bedroom was very large and not being utilized. We built a custom closet with floor to ceiling shelving / hanging and drawers as well as incorporated a makeup vanity area complete with custom rollouts. In the new addition we were also able to include the new laundry area with a stacked unit as well as space to fold and hang. There is a large window on one end that floods the room with natural light and bounces across the new large format hex tile floor. We added hardwoods in the primary suite that continued into the living room and what was the office. We flipped the office and the dining room allowing us to utilize space out of the new office for a walk in pantry. Originally the homeowners wanted to update the kitchen as it was not opening it to the living room. After presenting 3D renderings to them of our design they loved the idea of removing the wall between the kitchen and living and creating a huge space that everyone can be in together and no one is left out. This meant relocating some appliances, adding a large island to accommodate 4 people, a new walk-in pantry, a coffee bar area and a custom direct vent hood with all new custom cabinets and new marble tile backsplashes..
The original laundry room was off the garage entrance from the kitchen. We removed that and added a door out to the patio with a new boot bench. We installed a marble hex tile on the back hall floor running into the half bath and gave an update to the half bath off the kitchen.
We removed the old gas fireplace and installed a new linear electric unit with marble tile surrounds and a custom fireplace mantel and trim wall above, built in a bench with storage drawers under one set of the new windows where there were once french doors that had rotted and were not functional anymore. We replaced all the light fixtures on the main floor as well as painted all the walls and ran hardwood throughout.
The new pace feels so natural and is an extension of the beautiful countryside that the home sits on. The homeowners can believe the difference in how they function as a family unit in the renovated main floor and can't wait to host family gatherings with all the newly gained open space.
