The original layout of the basement was fine for the way the previous homeowners utilized the space and when we met the new homeowners they asked if we could just update and modernize it to fit their style.  After more discussion we realized they had put a pool put in a year prior and wanted to be able to use the basement to entertain alongside the pool.  It was immediately apparent to us the entire use of the space needed to be flipped.  So the first thing was to create an outdoor / indoor vibe by adding a 16' double back slider that filled the entire end wall and washed the space with natural light.  Then we moved the bar down by the slider and closer to the pool. This inspired the homeowner to want to make it more than a bar so we in the bar you will find a dishwasher, an ice maker, a small induction cooktop, a microwave, and lastly a small wall oven.

This now is a full working kitchen perfect for entertaining.  With ample seating on two sides of the bar allows for plenty of friends and family to gather around.  We renovated the existing full bath and created a lounge vibe with a perfect Karaoke bar at the opposite end.  The colors are bold and dramatic and really tie the two spaces together but we knew with the two doors on the bar wall we needed a way to distract your eye.  So we incorporated a trim wall all done in black which helps the doors to fade away.  On the other side of the stairs is now the cozy media area perfect for Sunday football or movie nights.  Lastly, the final wow factor to this project was the stairs into the basement.  We removed and replaced the treads with custom white oak stair treads and completed them with matte and shiny black herringbone tile.  They are stunning and really cap off the entire project.
