This basement was styled in a modern traditional line. We worked to keep in line with the traditional styling of upstairs but bring a lighter more modern feel to the space. By utilizing a box of textures from the stone pillars to the wood media wall and the vintage subway tile backsplash in the bar the overall feel of the space is comfortable and inviting. One of the best features of the space is the built in bunk beds tucked between the storage room and the living room. We created this cozy nook for overflow guests as well as sleepovers for the kids.
The space has bunk lights, a shelf at the foot of each bed for storage and a hidden chevron pocket door for privacy. Throughout the basement we installed floating vinyl planks to make the space feel more open and consistent. This also allows for easy maintenance. The color palette is light and comfortable with a touch of depth in the deep blue wall paint utilized in both the office and full bath. The overall goal of this finish was to create a space that the whole family could enjoy.
